First, you must download and install a small program called Spybot. This program will remove the spyware infection from your computer. If you already have Spybot installed, proceed to the next section for instructions on updating and using Spybot.
Installation Instructions
- Click here to download Spybot.
- When the window appears, click Open. On the next screen click Next. Then, select "I accept the agreement" and click on Next. After this, you will need to click Next on the next four screens. Then, click Install.
- Congratulations, you have installed Spybot. Please continue to the next section.
Usage Instructions
The following directions will guide you through the process of updating Spybot, scanning your computer for spyware infection, and removing the spyware.
- On your desktop, find the new icon for Spybot. Double click it. Once Spybot is open, click on Search for Updates as indicated by the red circle in the photo below.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to search and download any available updates. NOTE: Be sure that there is a check mark in each box, so that all updates are installed. Then, click on Download Updates.
- After the updates are installed, select the Search & Destroy icon from the list on the left side of the screen. Then, click Check for Problems at the BOTTOM of the window, as indicated by the red circle in the photo below.
- After the scan is complete, be sure there is a check mark in EVERY BOX. Then, click Fix Selected Problems as illustrated by the red circle in the photo below:
- Removing some spyware could require you to restart your computer. If this is necessary, you will be prompted by Spybot. Follow the instructions it gives.
- Run the scan a second time to be sure that Spybot removed all the spyware.
- Congratulations, you have removed the spyware from your computer!
