How to configure Wireless in Windows XP

Example 1

Refer to Example 1

  1. From the Start Menu right click on "Connect To" and select "Open." This will open a view on your available network adapters.
  2. Right click on the icon for your wireless adapter.
  3. Select Properties. This will open the configuration of your wireless adapter.
  4. Select the Wireless Networks tab.
  5. Remove any wireless networks.
  6. Click on refresh
  7. Select OK at the bottom
  8. In the taskbar on the bottom right you will see your connection box come up and list what wireless you are connected to and the strength (Example 2)

Example 2

  1. If you need to change wireless networks
  2. Right click on the wireless icon in the taskbar on the bottom right (Example 2)
  3. You will see wireless connections available in the box on the right (Example3)
    1. Double click on to connect or disconnect
  4. If no networks are listed choose "Change the order of preferred networks" on the left
  5. Refer to step 6 above

Example 3

IP Address Registration

The Southeast Tech wireless network uses DHCP to assign IP addresses and associated services. You may now open a web browser to access the network. At this point you will be prompted to logon to the network. Enter your User ID and your password . This authentication will now take place every time you start a web browser session.
