My Homepage

Step 1: Make sure that you are connected to the internet, open your browser and type in the URL www.southeastmn.edu.

Step 2: This will open up the Southeast Technical College homepage. In the Information Technology box (you will find this on the bottom left portion of you screen) you will find a link to the Desire2Learn homepage. Click on the link. This will open the Desire2Learn welcome screen.

Step 3:

• Click on the Username field and enter your username: Firstname.Lastname (don't forget the period between the two).
• Click on the Password field and enter your password: Birthdate (yymmdd)

1. If your birthdate does not work, then the last 6 digits of your SSN should be used.
2. If neither of the above work, insert 6 blank characters into the password field.
3. Anyone signing on will be required to change their initial password.

***Note: Before you can access your online courses, you must have a student account. An account is set up for you after you are accepted as a student by the college and have completed the registration process for the course. If you have enrolled or registered recently, your account may not be set up yet. If this is the case, contact our Information Technology Department for assistance.

You should now be at your My Home page for your online courses. This is your personal gateway to your Desire2Learn courses. You're My Home page will list all of the courses that you have registered for. It will contain a My Preferences section which is a useful tool in personalizing your Desire2Learn web pages. It also contains a link to useful tools like Events, Calendar and a link to your e-mail.

Course Home Page

To access your Course Home page click on the appropriate link on My Home page. Your Course Home page contains all of the important tools that you will need to interact with your instructor and your course. The course navigation bar at the top of the screen will remain visible until you navigate outside of your course. The navigation bar contains links to Content, Discussions, Dropbox, Quizzes and Grades (when available)and Classlist. More details on each of the above listed can be found in the Terminology section.
